Kore can be divided into two programs: competitive & recreational. We also have “drop-ins” or workshops available for those that cannot commit on a weekly or monthly basis.
This is for the student that is looking for consistent rehearsals from September to June and would like the opportunity to perform on stage. It is meant for the focused individual looking for the maximum improvement they can make in a year.
A student participates in one class a week minimum every week. They are trained in foundation of movement, performance value, dancing as a team vs. dancing as a soloist, and much more. After the training period is over, the teacher will choreograph a competitive dance for the class/team between 3-4.5 minutes long depending on the size of the group. The class/team will participate anywhere between 2-5 dance competitions a year (dependent on level), some competitions may be out of town. There are also 1-2 dance recitals a year (one during winter and one at the end of the year).
All of this seems long, but it is surprising how quick the year goes by! There are three levels in the competitive program:
Beginner, usually dancers that have had 0-2 years of dance experience in a studio
Intermediate, dancers that have had 3-6 years of dance experience in a studio
Advance, dancers that have had 7+ years of dance experience in a studio
All intermediate/advance teams at Kore require an AUDITION. Please look out for our audition schedule to be properly informed. Auditions/trial classes for the new seasons always begins in the first two weeks of the dance year!
Perfect for the young dancer that wants to try the movement but does not necessarily want to commit to doing dance competitions. These are typically 8-10 week sessions and are primarily geared to younger dancers (12 years and younger).
Drop-ins and Workshops
All Kore drop-ins and workshops are open to the general public and they occur a handful times a month! They usually are posted on our Instagram or Facebook, so make sure you check in on us periodically to make sure you do not miss out on an excellent training opportunity, just make sure you bring clean indoor shoes, a water bottle and a positive attitude!
