Kore can be divided into two programs: competitive & recreational. We also have “drop-ins” or workshops available for those that cannot commit on a weekly or monthly basis.
The 2020-21 Season
Limitless, our mantra this year is inspired by the open-minded mindset to what may or may not happen. Instead of coming out of “the storm” the same as before, this new season our mindset is to face adversity with humility, honesty and hunger to elevate ourselves!
Due to our 2020-21 season being affected by COVID-19, we are closely monitoring protocols for mass gathering restrictions to ensure that we do our part in preventing the spread of the virus. Our schedule has been altered to ensure we have 15 min breaks in between each class to ensure sanitization of all surfaces. Studios have been marked to ensure students can maintain social distance of 2m apart, along with mandatory temperature checks and we require any student experiencing flu-like symptoms to stay home and take the class via online. Masks are mandatory, unless they are physically dancing in the class.
PRE-REGISTRATION FOR ALL CLASSES AND AUDITIONS ARE REQUIRED
in order for us to ensure we follow social distancing protocols, we are limiting how many students can attend classes. All dancers MUST fill out the KORE REGISTRATION FORM to notify us which classes they wish to attend &/or audition for during trial week
For dancers wishing to audition for any intermediate or advance teams, you will be EMAILED an ONLINE DANCE TUTORIAL of CHOREOGRAPHY 24 HOURS before the first day of class and notified of the scheduled block of time for you to come to the studio and perform for the teacher. Audition results will be emailed out within 48 hours.
We have divided the year based on SESSIONS in order to allow us the flexibility to navigate the year during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each session must be paid at the beginning of the session and will have performative goal at the end.
For the first session (Sep 15-Dec 19, 2020), our teams will be focused on dance training & knowledge, team bonding, and complete a performance at the Kore Winter Recital (Dec 2020).
By November, we will have a better foresight to see if we will be able to participate in 2 Local Dance Competitions (Between March-May 2021) following COVID-19 safety protocols. This will be our focus for the second session (January-March 2020). If competitions do not occur, we will have a Spring Show.
Our last session (April-June 2021) will end off with a bang with our Kore Year End Show (June 2021)!
A student participates in one class a week minimum every week. They are trained in foundation of movement, performance value, dancing as a team vs. dancing as a soloist, and much more. After the training period is over, the teacher will choreograph a competitive dance for the class/team between 3-4.5 minutes long depending on the size of the group. The class/team will participate anywhere between 2-3 dance competitions a year (dependent on level), some competitions may be out of town. There are also 1-2 dance recitals a year (one during winter and one at the end of the year).
There are three levels in the competitive program:
Beginner, usually dancers that have had 0-2 years of dance experience in a studio
Intermediate, dancers that have had 3-6 years of dance experience in a studio
Advance, dancers that have had 7+ years of dance experience in a studio
All intermediate/advance teams at Kore require an AUDITION. Please refer to our registration form for more information. Auditions/trial classes for the new seasons always begins in the first two weeks of the dance year!
Our first day of class & auditions will be TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH, continuing our tradition of allowing dancers a try out/audition for as many teams/classes as they desire.
Perfect for the young dancer that wants to try the movement but does not necessarily want to commit to doing dance competitions. These are typically 8-10 week sessions and are taught by the same teacher weekly.
All Kore drop-ins and workshops are open to the general public and they occur a handful times a month! They usually are posted on our Instagram or Facebook, so make sure you check in on us periodically to make sure you do not miss out on an excellent training opportunity, just make sure you bring clean indoor shoes, a water bottle and a positive attitude!
